The Great Famine in fifth class.
Over the past few weeks, in Ms. Breen’s fifth class, we have been working hard on the topic of The Great Irish Famine in history, English and art classes.
In English we are reading the novel Under the Hawthorn tree, which we linked with art and drew charcoal ketches with depictions of scenes from the famine.
We also worked in groups to conduct research on the famine. We then put all of our work together to complete a project.
We have really enjoyed reading and learning about the famine!
